OTTAWA, Canada – March 29, 2004 – e-academy Inc., the leader in global software distribution solutions for the education market, today announced the launch of its Direct Student Download service to customers in Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). The launch is part of e-academy’s major expansion into the EMEA market and opening of its EMEA Training and Customer Care Center.

The Direct Student Download service enables students and faculty in EMEA who access MSDNAA software through e-academy’s License Management System (ELMS) to download the Top 30 MSDNAA software products directly from a centrally hosted server. Downloads are free to students and faculty and the service eliminates the need for campus administrators to set up campus-based download servers.

“Enabling educational institutions and students worldwide for direct access to Microsoft applications reduces the costs of software delivery and maintenance for publishers and provides students with all the tools they need when they need them,” said Ram Raju, President, e-academy Inc.

The launch of the Direct Student Download service is as a result of an agreement between e-academy Inc. and Microsoft Corporation. The agreement grants a license to each Microsoft MSDN Academic Alliance (MSDNAA) customer in EMEA for the use of the e-academy License Management System (ELMS®). It offers EMEA MSDNAA customers the option to enable free software downloads to their students and faculty on the top 30 MSDNAA software applications. The agreement also provides unlimited access to e-academy’s recently-opened Training and Customer Care Center.

“Easy and free download of development software is what students have asked for, when and where they need it. It is “development software” at your fingertips that e-academy is providing and Direct Student Download will be completing their total offering for students and faculties,” said Jan Staes, EMEA Academic Manager, Microsoft Corporation.

ELMS® enables the secure distribution of software to eligible students and faculty, provides a suite of distribution options for electronic and physical delivery of software, and offers software publishers real-time online reporting of transactions across international markets. ELMS® currently serves the European market in four languages: English, French, Spanish and German. A Japanese version of ELMS is scheduled for release in May 2004.
