Over one billion people reside in India. Approximately 15 million Indians live without vision as a result of genetics, vitamin deficiency, and UV exposure. The Srikiran Institute of Ophthalmology has taken some critical steps to resolve fundamental issues that afflict people living with vision loss in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. The Institute has targeted local needs and placed a needed focus on cataract surgeries. The modern facilities staffed by compassionate doctors continue to procure the latest eye equipment to provide quality eye care that is both affordable and accessible to everyone.
Srikiran’s community outreach program provides the following services free of charge: eye care to poor, eye screening clinics three days in a week, transportation to the base hospital for surgeries, intraocular lens implant, food accommodation and medicines, transportation for three post-operative follow-up visits, and corrective glasses if required after six weeks of surgery.
